Devotee: Nandi is said to be Shiva’s most loyal devotee. In some stories, Nandi is depicted performing intense penance to win Shiva’s favor. His devotion is rewarded by his permanent place at Shiva’s side.

Sculptures and statues of Nandi are a common feature in Shiva temples throughout India. These figures typically depict a white bull, symbolizing purity and righteousness, seated facing the main shrine. This positioning is interpreted to mean that the devotee, like Nandi, should focus their attention on Shiva.
